The train services of the central railway between Kalyan and Kasara was affected after two bogies of Amravati Express train, including its engine derailed near Kalyan railway station on Thursday morning.

A CR official said that the engine and one general second class cum guard's van of 12112 Amravati-Mumbai Express derailed, while it was entering platform number 4 of Kalyan station. The derailment has resulted in blocking of the up line between Kalyan and Kasara.

The CR official said that until now no casualties have been reported and restoration of traffic is in full swing. Continuous announcements are being made for the benefit of passengers.

After the incident a technical team of the railway department from Kalyan was rushed to the spot. Several local trains were cancelled due to the incident.

To facilitate passengers and commuters, the CR ran special trains between Kasara and Titwala railway stations.

Irfan Shaikh, member of transport committee in KDMT, said that five special buses from Kalyan to Titwala have been deployed so that commuters can reach their offices on time.



However, Rajesh Ghanghav, a railway activist blamed the CR for not carrying out proper maintenance work on the Kalyan-Kasara route as this was the third derailment within a span of few months.
