Actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar, who was being treated for lung infection at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital (KDAH), passed away Monday morning.

He was hospitalised about two weeks ago for lung infection and is kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
In his long career, he has won two Filmfare awards - in 1984, he won the award for the best supporting actor for Ardh Satya and in 1991, the best villain trophy for his portrayal of a ruthless eunuch in Sadak.
The actor is also known for his performance in Aankhen, Ishq, Coolie No 1 and Gupt: The Hidden Truth among others.
Born and brought up in a Maharashtrain Brahmin family, Sadashiv Amrapurkar is fondly called Tatya by his family and close friends. He was always socially inclined and has worked towards the betterment of those less fortunate from a very young age. Sadashiv Amrapurkar is married to his high school sweetheart, Sunanda Karmarkar. Be it in school or college, Sadashiv was always interested in acting.
The veteran actor has marked a niche not only in the entertainment industry but also in the society as a responsible citizen. The actor will be remembered for his power-packed performance in the film Sadak. He is known for playing villianous roles in Bollywood and is equally appreciated for his cameos and comedy roles.

Sadashiv Amrapurkar who is known for his blockbuster performances in 80s and 90s Bollywood and Marathi films is critically ill and admitted to Kokilaben hospital in Mumbai.
The actor was admitted to the Kokilaben hospital last week due to lungs infection, but it seems he has still not recovered as he is still in the ICU. Sources have confirmed the news.
Who can forget his character of Maharani in the Sanjay Dutt starrer 'Sadak'. He is still remembered for the terror he created in the film.
Ardh Satya, Kal Chakra, Sadak, Ishq are some of his best films.

Doctor in New York City tests positive for Ebola
A doctor in New York City who recently returned from treating Ebola patients in Guinea tested positive for the Ebola virus on Thursday, becoming the city's first diagnosed case.
People infected with Ebola cannot spread the disease until they begin to display symptoms, and it cannot be spread through the air. As people become sicker, the viral load in the body builds, and they become more and more contagious.

Dr Spencer's travel history and the timing of the onset of his symptoms led health officials to dispatch disease detectives, who "immediately began to actively trace all of the patient's contacts to identify anyone who may be at potential risk," according to a statement released by the department.
It was unclear if the city was trying to find people who might have come into contact with Dr Spencer on the subway. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority directed all questions to the health department, which did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the issue.
The missteps by both local and federal authorities in handling the nation's first Ebola case raised questions about the ability of health care workers to safely treat those with the disease.
In the New York City region, hospitals and emergency workers have been preparing for the appearance of the virus for months.
Dr Irwin Redlener, the director of the National Center for Disaster Preparedness at Columbia University and a special adviser to Mayor de Blasio, said that the risk to the general public was minimal, but depended on a city moving swiftly.
